Pirate Costume
A little boy is dressed as a pirate captain for Halloween. He knocks on the door of a house and a lady answers. She says, "Well, well little boy, what are you supposed to be?" He says, "I am a pirate captain". She says, "Well--where are your buccaneers?" He says, "Right here under my bucken hat."No comments
Spitzer Zaps Taser Sales
If you’ve read Cattle Prods & Kool-Aid (And you should),then you know that I’m a big fan of Tasers. I feel that Tasers and other stun-gun type devices provide a wonderful means for the cops to NOT fill somebody full of lead when placed in a dangerous situation. I won’t get into an argument with you that they may or may not cause death to certain people (like those with pacemakers and heart conditions) but hey, who’s NOT allergic to 3 rounds in the head or
chest, hmmm??
(And if you’re opposed to spanking, you can always taser the brat, right? no lasting damage and all that…) *snicker*
It was announced yesterday (I heard it on NPR) that Ebay, the giant garage sale on the internet, has entered into an agreement with the state of NY, courtesy of of our attorney general, Elliot Spitzer, regarding the sale of Tasers to NY State residents. To Summarize the agreement (here’s the press release from the NYS AG’s Website), those who attempt to buy a Taser, or stun-gun type of device via Ebay, will recieve a warning if they are located in the state of NY. Likewise, those who sell such items will be cautioned that it is against the law to sell one to somebody in NY. And this is all voluntary on the part of Ebay.
Ok, now can anybody see a way around this?
Ummm Yeah Dar, that’d be to setup a new Ebay account with a location in a state where these are legal, and have the mailing address forward your mail/packages.
Looking at how the law is defined, it might even be legal to buy one as a NYS resident, and have it shipped elsewhere….
Oh well, at lease the NYS AG’s office has done a bunch of other useful and productive things like shutting down kiddie predator chatrooms on Yahoo!, attempted to stop mostly white neighborhoods from discriminating against non-white patrons of parks, and, on the digital side of things, is hot on the trail of some major spyware scumbags.
I have to admit, that despite this really stupid political gesture of stopping stun gun sales via Ebay (they’ll find another way, believe me), the AG has done some really good things. I’d honestly like to see him run for NYS Gov. or maybe a US Senate seat.
Oh well, I guess we’ll all have to drive to Jersey to buy stun guns. After all, if you people can’t/won’t/don’t make your kids behave,
somebody has to, right?
